Headaches

Are you experiencing:

  • A dull ache in your head?

  • Tension in your head and behind your eyes?

  • Migraines?

  • Painful throbbing sensation in your head?

  • Tired sore eyes from sitting in front of a computer?

Being a CBD practice, we notice headaches are one of the top 3 most common presentations to our practice. We believe this is due to the amount of time people in the city spend hunched over computers screens, and stressed.

However, headaches do not only present in office workers, they are on the rise in general as our modern lifestyle becomes more sedentary.

For many people, headaches can be regular life event. Many people are even able to notice the changes in their body that precede a headache attack. This can be very stressful worrying about when your next headache will strike.

What causes headaches and migraines?

There are many and varied causes of headaches and migraines, no two people are the same which is why our clinical history and comprehensive examination process is so important.

Once trauma or underlying pathology have been ruled out, we see that headaches are commonly caused by structural imbalances of the spine and nervous system. Poor posture is the most noticeable sign of these imbalances.

(NOTE: Some headaches can be more serious in nature. If we deem your headaches are NOT caused by musculoskeletal or mechanical issues you will be referred to the appropriate medical professionals.)

Structural imbalances of the spine and body can potentially place added pressure on the joints, muscles, bones, discs and nerves of the neck and head (as well as other areas).

Due to the close relationship between the nerves of the neck and head, mechanical changes or musculoskeletal injuries to the neck can create referred headaches. The most common types of mechanical headaches are tension type headaches and cervicogenic headaches.

Our Approach

At Melbourne City Chiropractic we utilise a postural approach of chiropractic to correct the underlying structural imbalances of your spine and body.

We utilise a method of chiropractic known as Advanced Biostructural Correction™, or ABC™ for short. In fact, our chiropractors are responsible for teaching this method to other chiropractors all around the globe!

ABC™ works to improve posture by assessing and correcting the structural imbalances or misalignments in the spine and body. The goal is to help you move and feel better.

With improved posture, there is often less pressure on the muscles, ligaments, bones, discs, and nerves surrounding the neck and spine in general. This reduces pain, and allows the body to move efficiently without restriction.
